I bought InFamous on Tuesday and I have been playing it non-stop. This game is just as amazing as I thought it would be. The story hooked me and had me searching the city trying to find out what happened and why. There are so many ways to play this game. If you love shooters you could just blast away at people using your powers like a gun or you can find more creative and enjoyable ways to take people out. Unlocking new powers (or new ways to use your powers) is an enjoyable process. The fun of traversing the city is kept alive as you unlock new ways to explore. If you have gotten this game yet get it, if you dont own a PS3 go buy one, this one game makes the ps3 worthwhile. It is one of the few games that I really feel I got my moneys worth (GTA4 ,Call of Duty 4, Fallout 3, Uncharted, MGS4) I haven't finished it yet and I really want to get back to it, so more to come on InFamous!!!Wednesday, May 27, 2009

Gun

I decided to throw up another post today, because I also finished Gun, again, and I think it is worthy of mention. Ever since video games made it to the aesthetically pleasingly level of the PS2 I wanted a western game. I waited and waited and finally I heard news that Rockstar was coming out with one and I thought "Oh yeah GTA meets the wild west!!!" Unfortunately Red Dead Revolver was a let down for me. I know a lot of people liked it, but I was not looking for the circus version of the Wild West. Those of you that played Red Dead remember it was very much arcade style, and the bosses and bad guys were comical to the point of lunacy. It wasn't the spaghetti western game I was looking for. I sold the game before I finished it. Much later I stumbled across Gun. I knew nothing about this game when I saw it on the shelf, I actually thought it was a first person shooter judging by its name and the skull on the cover. It was the twin six shooters that drew my attention. Needless to say I am glad I gave it a try. Gun is the game that Rockstar should have made with Red Dead. Gun is an open world, more serious minded western. The voice acting was excellent, and though the graphics on all the versions except the 360 leave much to be desired, the story and action combine nicely. It bears with it a certain charm to it that covers a multitude of sins. Apparently you can get from Montana to Kansas in about 45 seconds on horse back. We should really go back to horses these cars are much too slow. Also the game is relatively short I think I got through the main story plus some side missions in less then five hours. There is probably a couple more hours in side missions but not much more. As I said though its charm, particularly to those of us who played cow boys and indians or who read Louis L'Amour, covers up its flaws. Gun still has some over the top bad guys but at least they try to shoot at you with a gun instead of a water balloon. Hopefully Neversoft will get a shot at another Gun for the new systems. At least Rockstar seems to be going more in this direction for the next Red Dead...we can only hope.
Bully

Finished Bully and Ive got to say if you havent played it yet you got to try it. Rockstar takes its GTA format into the classroom with very satisfying results. The environment is quite a bit smaller then other rockstar games, but this turns out to be a positive thing. The smaller environment allowed rockstar to focus on the details and develop more characters. Its true that GTA 4's city is very cool looking but you really don't spend anytime taking it in, nor do you really feel you want to. The size of the city only adds distance between you and your objectives rather then something that really feels alive. You will find your self in Bully recognizing many characters you've helped around the school and town. The missions are creative and enjoyable. Gone are the frustratingly difficult missions that distract from story and fun. I don't think you will find your self wishing it was over and forcing yourself to finish just to do so. Go back to school and find out that its a lot more fun the second time.

First Up
Alright just got it setup today and its got a long ways to go. My hope is to setup a forum to talk about video games upcoming and classics. To start off I want to say I picked up a PS2 for the third time in my life last week. I bought one when it came out sold it to my brother, bought another one and sold it for a PS3, now I bought another one because I was missing playing some of my favorite PS2 games. Games like: Metal Gear 2 and 3, and Prince of Persia. I must say that now is the time to pick up a PS2 because it only 100 bucks and the real great games like the ones above are only like 5-7 bucks at Gamestop. I also picked up some games I never got around to playing before like Bully and God of War, and I am really pleased with them. I hope to have open disscussions about indvidual games once we get some people on this site. I can cover all of last gen consoles (Xbox, Gamecube, PS2) as well as The Wii and PS3. I don't want this site to be 360 vs Ps3. Personally I think they are both great systems I picked my PS3 for my own reasons and I am satisfied with it. The only problem is going to be talking about exclusive system games, but I am familar with the 360 and have played it even though I don't own it. Most games coming out now are multisystem games so its really not going to be that big of a problem.
